At Shaca Group, the health and safety of our employees, clients, and contractors, as well as the people and property affected by our operations, is paramount. We believe that all accidents are preventable, we have a zero tolerance for unsafe behaviours, and everyone looks out for themselves and others.
Our commitment to continually improving our health and safety is reflected in our robust systems for recruitment, training and compliance and the awards we have received to date.
It is also reflected in the accreditations we hold:
- Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
- Acclaim Health & Safety Accreditation
- ConstructionOnline (Gold member) certificate of membership.
There are various methods we use to ensure H&S compliance at Head Office and on site. In this blog we give a few examples.
Our directors provide leadership in health and safety matters by engaging and training the workforce in the achievement of safe and healthy working conditions and promoting best practice as far as is practicable. The directors are committed to providing adequate resources to train, monitor and assess the company’s health and safety performance and deliver the objectives set for continuous improvement.
Recruiting the right kind of employee is critical. At Shaca Group our strict recruitment process means that we will only employ top quality, talented and competent people. All our employees are regularly sent for H&S training to ensure increased capacity and compliance with best practices.
In addition, we regularly provide on-site toolbox talks so that are our workers are kept abreast of the latest site safety systems.
Regular H&S site audits are carried out by the Shaca Group Health & Safety Manager and the Shaca Site Manager to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. We also have Shaca Group’s Joint Managing Director conduct monthly site visits and site audits, ensuring that everyone has a role to play in health & safety, from the top down.
Current H&S procedures
The following procedures are critical to site safety and here are some of the ones which we follow implicitly:
- Construction Dust Management procedures.
- Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) procedures.
- Safe work at Height procedures.
- Emergency procedures.
