A major and prestigeous project to refurbish a Grade 1 listed building at 46 Berkeley Square to become the permanent new home of the world famous Annabel's Private Members club. Shaca are pleased to be responsible for delivering the structural alterations and first fix fit out of both 46 Berkeley Square and 46 Hays Mews to the rear. This project is a challenge to maintain and protect the Grade 1 listed features and interior of 46 Berkeley Square including one of the finest examples of an 18th Century cantilevered staircase in London. Shaca's works include underpinning and the creation of a new two storey opening which included the design and installation of substantial temporary propping works to the Grade 1 structure to prevent cracking and movement while the openings were carefully enlarged. Works also include the demolition of the existing terrace slab and reinstatement along with lowering of the basement to create improved headroom and a sunken dance floor in the main dancing area of the club. A new steel structure will support a bespoke glass roof structure over the new terrace which will connect the two buildings.
